Synchronizing Smart Update

    • On a standalone PC: Running the SmartUpdate registry merge file from this link will synchronize Smart Update and set it to run automatically, without user intervention, rather than on-demand.

After you ran the registry merge file, do a manual update by selecting SmartUpdate from the IV menu, and press the 'connect' button. Your PC should be connected to the web for Smart-Update to run.

Smart Update will now detect when there is a valid connection and run automatically, daily.

Important! Unlike conventional antivirus software, InVircible does not depend on critical updates in order to handle common and new malware. It is therefore normal that there may not be new updates for long periods of time, sometimes up to several months. The successful daily connection of SmartUpdate indicates that it's functioning properly. If in doubt, then you may re-run the SmartUpdate registry merge file, followed by a manual smart update connection, as described above.

    • In the enterprise environment: Client machines in a centrally managed IV network need not to update their IV copy individually. This is taken care of by the server that manages the IV distribution. Only the server needs to smart update periodically. The distribution of the updates to the clients is then assured through the system login script every time the client is connecting to the network. Run the SmartUpdate registry merge file on the server, as described above, to initiate its automatic updating.

Note that the minor update number will NOT show in the 'about' panel of the clients PC (it will show update #30 instead), in the centrally managed IV, only on the server. Still, updates will be transferred to the clients through a different mechanism.
